The Triangle Initiative is a multi-agency partnership of Federal, State, and local law enforcement agencies that conduct major narcotics investigations targeting Mexico-based crime syndicates operating in the northeastern part of North Carolina. The task force utilizes a variety of investigative techniques including undercover and wire intercept operations to target, identify, disrupt, and dismantle Drug Trafficking Organizations (DTOs) and Money Laundering Organizations (MLOs) operating in the region.
The initiative targets transportation routes along interstates I-95, I-40, and I-85 corridors to identify DTOs that are supplying drug markets throughout the eastern U.S. The investigations identify the command-and-control elements and those overseeing the transportation routes. Based on information developed in the investigation the task force conducts significant seizures and arrests. These investigations are coordinated with other jurisdictions throughout the U.S. and Mexico.
