The Atlanta Violent Gang Initiative (AVGI) is a cooperative partnership of three separate task forces comprised of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies encompassing the Metro Atlanta Area. The AVGI is co-located within the Atlanta Field Division of the FBI. The AVGI attacks gang drug-related violence and Drug Trafficking Organizations (DTOs) by identifying and targeting the most violent organized gangs and largest Cartel linked DTOs who pose the greatest threats to their communities, and whose activities generally include murder, robbery, kidnapping, drug trafficking, firearms trafficking, human trafficking and extortion.
Employs long-term, proactive, and coordinated efforts by a team of federal, state, and local law enforcement officers and prosecutors. Aims to reduce the impact of drug trafficking and gangs on the Metro Atlanta area and other parts of the country.
