The Domestic Highway Enforcement (DHE) is not an investigative initiative but is treated as such by the Atlanta-Carolinas HIDTA for statistical purposes and utilizes the Georgia State Patrol’s (GSP’s) Highway CID Interdiction Unit. Due to the vast network of interstate roadways, Metro Atlanta is a natural focal point for illicit trafficking of illegal drugs from the Southwest Border through the overland routes to the Atlanta metro area, as well as the movement of drug-related assets in reverse.
The DHE Initiative works cooperatively with the federal, state, and local agencies throughout the state of Georgia to attack DTO’s utilizing motor vehicles to transship illegal drugs and illicit proceeds. Conducts independent investigations of motor vehicles, to include passenger and commercial vehicles, utilized in interstate and local criminal activity.
Domestic Highway Enforcement is included here as a program. AC HIDTA treats it as an investigative initiative for statistical purposes.
